Ep 1438 | Al Robertson Looks Back on the One Belief That Nearly Destroyed His Marriage

Al, Zach, Christian, and John Luke take aim at the internet’s obsession with rage bait, reaction videos, and critics who build entire platforms by tearing other people down. The guys connect Homer’s Odyssey to modern life by examining the competing pulls of pleasure, comfort, success, and purpose, and why none of them can fully satisfy. Zach gets personal about the point in his marriage when he realized even a good marriage can become an idol, while Al reflects on the breakthrough that came when he and Lisa stopped expecting each other to be what only Christ could be. The conversation ultimately turns to how fantasy, nostalgia, and unrealistic expectations can distort marriage, faith, and our idea of the good life.

In this episode: Luke 15:11–32; Luke 16:19–31; John 5:39–40; 1 Corinthians 2:9–10; 1 Peter 1:3–7; 2 Peter 1:5–8
